A quest to make sense of it all. Or a sense to make a quest of it all.

Definitely the best decision I've made today.

Cooking my quinoa in chicken broth instead of water...and adding celery seed while it was simmering. There's no end to my madness and depravity.

I adore quinoa. It is such a tasty grain, so much better than couscous. Recently we've mixed it with lime, olive oil, black beans, and papaya. A favorite is stirring goat cheese into hot quinoa and stuffing it into peppers. Top with goat cheese crumbles and freshly-ground nutmeg, then bake. NOM.

I am so trying the stuffed pepper idea this weekend. Nothing fills my heart with love and goodwill like goat cheese. Pretty fond of nutmeg, too.

Incidentally, did you know that there is such a thing as nutmeg intoxication? No joke. You can get to' up on nutmeg. If you eat a couple tablespoons of it, several hours later you will have hallucinations. You'll also have fevers, chills, muscle cramps, and possibly a trip to the emergency room. I have not done this (and will not). But it's totes true.

I did indeed know that about nutmeg. And I will continue to use it for culinary purposes only because that sounds like a nightmare.

I don't think I've ever had a strong enough urge to be altered as to start scarfing spices.

Nutmeg sounds...terrible. The descriptions I've read of 'meg hallucinations do not sound pleasant. Hallucinogenics scare me anyway. I don't want all my subconscious crazy dancing around where I can see it.
